    For many employees, a temporary loss of income could have long-term financial consequences. Aflac’s flexible, portable Short-Term Disability insurance policies help employees avoid the hardship of medical bills. An Aflac Short-Term Disability insurance policy provides a monthly benefit amount when the employee is disabled and unable to work due to a covered accident or illness. With features like our guaranteed-issue option and our unique Aflac Value Rider and Aflac Plus Rider, an Aflac Short-Term Disability policy shows employees how easy and sensible it can be to help protect their income.

    • Guaranteed-issue coverage – No medical underwriting is required for benefit amounts up to a maximum of $4,000 (subject to income requirements)*
    • Guaranteed issue conversion – Now, it’s even easier for policyholders who wish to upgrade their existing Short-Term Disability policy to series A57600 or those who wish to add units of coverage to their existing A57600 series policy
    • Simplified-issue coverage – Simplified underwriting for amounts over the guaranteed-issue amount, with a total maximum of $6,000 (subject to income requirements)
    • No participation requirements – There are no participation requirements other than the standard requirements for establishing a payroll account
    • Various benefit options and coverage amounts are offered, allowing applicants to tailor coverage according to their need and budget
    • Guaranteed-renewable to age 75
    • Optional Aflac Value Rider (where available) – Pays a cash benefit to Aflac Short-Term Disability (ASTD) policyholders who have the Aflac Value Rider on their ASTD policy
  • Personal Disability Income Protector-Series A57400 For many employees, a temporary loss of income could have long-term financial consequences. The Personal Disability Income Protector insurance policy pays a monthly benefit amount when the employee is disabled due to a covered off-the-job injury or sickness and unable to work. Having disability insurance can help provide a sense of security, knowing that if the unexpected should happen, the employee will still receive a monthly income.Key Features:
    • Monthly benefits up to $5,000
    • No participation requirements – There are no participation requirements other than the standard requirements for establishing a payroll account
    • Various benefit period options and coverage amounts are offered, allowing applicants to tailor coverage according to their need and budget
    • Guaranteed-renewable to age 70

  • Group Short-Term Disability

    Becoming disabled is often an unexpected and burdensome experience, and it can happen to anyone. Our plan provides employees with a monthly benefit amount and helps provide peace of mind.

    A certificate may be issued to full-time employees ages 18–64on a payroll basis only. The employer selects the benefit and elimination periods that best meet the needs of their employees. Each member of the group will have the same benefit and elimination period.

    • Benefit Periods: 3, 6, 9, or 12 months
    • Elimination Periods (Injury/Sickness): 0/7, 0/14, 0/30, 7/7, 14/14, 30/30, 60/60, 90,90, or 180/180.
    • Monthly Benefit: $400–$5,000 (subject to income requirements). Amounts over the approved guaranteed-issue limit require simplified underwriting.
